Hard work doesn’t pay; smart work does’ — that’s one of the biggest myths out there.

Everyone chases ‘smart work’ and forgets the truth: smart work stands on a foundation of hard work. If you skip the grind, there’s nothing to optimise.

A few things to remember:

1. Real thinking is work. Coming up with fresh ideas, plans, and strategies for your business isn’t effortless — it takes focus and effort.

2. Leadership is tough. Running a team and getting people to deliver what they’re paid for is hard. People often expect CEOs to just ‘give orders’ — but leading well takes constant effort.

3. Consistency is laborious. Showing up daily for something you believe in — even when results don’t appear overnight — is serious work.
